It’s a Journey

Nancy was born and raised in the city of Boston.  She lived there most of her life. She met and married her husband, David, and they lived in the high deserts of California and then New Mexico for almost 14 years before moving to Tennessee.

In New Mexico, they raised backyard chickens and different ways of growing a desert vegetable garden, as well as practicing skills such as canning and making food from scratch.

After moving to Tennessee in 2017, they ramped up all that they had studied and applied it to their little farm where they have 8 acres.

Together, with their children, they raise chickens, ducks, rabbits, and dairy goats. Nancy also owns her own goat milk soap company, Scentinel Soap (www.scentinelsoap.com). David is a teacher at the local high school.

Since they are teachers at heart they would love to combine their love for homesteading with their gift to teach.  Nancy’s hope is to help others explore how homesteading fits into their life – whether in the city or in the country, in a house or an apartment, in the desert or in a deciduous place – knowing that where there is a will, there is a way to grow food and be happy.
